Automation can be defined as the technology by which a process or procedure is performed without human assistance. In other words, Automation or automatic control, is the use of various control systems for operating equipment such as machinery, part of production processes in factories with minimal or reduced human intervention. Automation has been achieved by various means including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic devices and computers, usually in combination (Wikipedia).
The benefit of production automation include labor savings, savings in electricity costs, savings in material costs, and improvements to product quality, accuracy and precision. The last step in a production line is adding logistic systems for transportation of mandrels & products towards the next manufacturing step. In (semi-automatic) production lines this will be usually done by manually operated (overhead) cranes and transportation conveyors based on belts, chains or roller systems.
Autonational Composites supplies automated logistic line components including the necessary automation towards the production machinery. In an automated line we consider automated monorails, manipulators and storage of mandrels on (chain) buffers and /or in mandrel warehouses.
MANDREL WAREHOUSE & BUFFER SYSTEMS
When there are many random mandrels of different diameters to be used, a fully automated mandrel warehouse is preferable. Autonational Composites has developed and delivered various configurations of warehouses. These warehouses ensure undamaged mandrels and always provide the right mandrel at the right place.
Mandrels & products have to be transported without time loss and other disturbances from the preceding to the next production step. It is obvious that producing machines should operate as efficiently as possible without unnecessary delay.
Autonational Composites’ automated production line includes a logistic transportation system for mandrels & products. We make use of monorail carriages, integrated into the production line and perfectly suited for automatically transport a rotating mandrel with cured or uncured products.
Manipulators are used to transport mandrel & product from the preceding to the next production step, mostly from a transportation system like a monorail or a (dynamic) buffer system to production machine like a filament winder, curing oven, extraction unit, etc.
