Applications & products
Composite FRP pipes, tanks, special couplings, elbows, tees and flanges and other (complex geometrical) cylindrical shapes, can easily be produced with a filament winding machine. These products are typically made with glass-fiber reinforced epoxy (GRE) and glass-fiber reinforced polyester (GRP).
Over the past 40 years Autonational Composites has supplied systems to the worlds’ larger tube & tank producers. Solutions consisted of filament winding machines and semi-automatic or fully automated production lines for many infrastructure & industrial applications in transportation or storage of (waste) water, oil & gas, etc.
Filament winding pinciple
Filament winding is a frequently applied production method to manufacture composite FRP piping and tanks. In the filament winding process roving or fibers are impregnated with resin and then pulled over a rotating mandrel. Filament winding provides great control over fiber placement and uniformity of the structures.
Filament winder & production lines
Autonational Composites provides standard modular filament winding machines, based on a robust industrial platform. Our standard winders can be operated stand-alone but are also suitable for integration in a semi-automatic or automated composite production lines including curing, extraction and additional operations line cutting, milling, drilling, shaving, sanding, hydrotesting etc.
Autonational also produces custom made (dedicated) filament winding machines specially designed for your production needs. These filament winding machines are in fact adjusted standard winders or new developed configurations consisting of modular components. Dedicated winding machines are often applied in very specific situations such as for the production of complex shaped composite parts in combination with very large volumes or high demands on accuracy.
Autonational Composites supplied filament winding production lines for manufacturing FRP tanks also based on the so called cantilever principle and also semi-automatic and automatic production of complex geometrical shaped parts, like cones, specific tanks, elbows and t-joint shaped products.
